What's New at the Chapter

New Electronic Membership Application/Renewal Process

Well, as the chapter boldly strides into the 21st century (or at least the late '90s), we can now accept membership applications and renewals electronically through the chapter website! This may be particularly useful for those who prefer to use credit cards to pay for professional society memberships.

For all of the details and instructions, click the Membership link to the left. (For the traditionalists, a printable application form with the current Membership Chair address is still available as well.)

Wickens presentations available!

The chapter wishes to thank Dr. Chris Wickens for his presentations at the October 2008 meeting, as well as the September 2007 meeting last year. Dr. Wickens has graciously made his slides available at the links below.

Function Allocation and the Degree of Automation (October 2008)

Imperfect Automation Presentation (September 2007)

Check out the "Members Only" web page - and the local HF discussion forum!

Our password-protected members-only section is available, via the "Members" link on the left! Chapter members will have received instructions on how to enter this page for the first time. If you are interested in membership, click the "Membership" link for an application.

Announcements

April 23 Meeting: Technology for People with Cognitive Disabilities, by Dr. Clayton Lewis (University of Colorado, Boulder, 6:00 TO 8:30 pm)

Mark your calendars for our next meeting, we'll be hearing about the latest research on human-computer interaction from Dr. Lewis' lab!

New technologies, including access to information on the Web and the availability of inexpensive, increasingly open smart phone devices, offer opportunities for increased independence for people with cognitive disabilities. This talk will describe recent developments around the world that are addressing these opportunities.

The talk will be held in room ECCR 1B51, in the Engineering Center on the University of Colorado campus. Right across Regent Drive from the building is a large parking area that is free in the evenings. Consult this campus map for more details.

Schedule:

6:00 - Start gathering (earlier may be OK too, but we officially have the room starting then)

6:15 - Supper, socialize, chapter announcements

7:00 - Program begins

Supper will be free for members, $5 for nonmembers. If you plan to attend, please RSVP if possible to: programs@rmhfes.org

It should be a really interesting talk - we hope to see you there!

Presentations available from February 26 meeting

If you were unable to attend on Feb. 26, or if you wanted to follow up by reviewing the presentations from this meeting, our presenters have graciously provided us with their presentation slides. They are available at the links below (Bob Hamilton's is in Powerpoint Show format):
